So my Junior and Senior year of High School I had the amazing opportunity to go overseas and serve others on the amazing Island of the Philippines.

Pagudpud, Philippines is where we stayed. And little did I know that this place would soon become my home away from home. One of my family friends takes people one a year to help serve the community here by helping people get medical care, build churches, and help with the kids. We stayed at a hospital/homecare place shown below.

One of my favorite things to do after a long day of traveling around town, helping the community is to go up to what we called, the Nest. It was a ladder that led to. proof top view of the amazing town, and when the sun would set, it was magical.
on the left side, the blue building, is where the whole town hold church service. The inside is beautiful and is also where we had worship every morning.

thats the inside of the church and honey this picture doesn’t do it justice.
missionaries just like I was actually built this church for the community here so they could have a place to come and fellowship. how great is that?

here we have our local beach that we would usually walk to before church would start, or as the sun would set we would go and walk the beach or play volleyball on the beach.
playing volleyball was a wonderful way to get to know the locals and children in the area. All the kids would go and play at the beach seemingly all day.

The kids were full of happiness even though they haven’t grown up with nearly as much as most of us have. It was so humbling to see their smiling faces despite their homes, lack of toys, or technology. They are so creative, like the boy in the picture made his own toy with a trash bag and some sticks!

probably one of my favorite places we got to go see was this beautiful waterfall which was a hike near Caunayan that lead you to this waterfall where we all went swimming in.
On the drive back we got to see the sun set and it was the most gorgeous thing ever after a long hike and swimming in the jungle.

The friends and memories this place made for me I will never forget. It was so hard to say goodbye to everyone along with the Never ending sunsets, the overly humid weather, and long sandy beaches. The Philippines will always have apart of heart and I can’t wait to go back.

So until next time, I hope you have a wonderful day.
